House Plans - The Upper Level

The upper level is all about the kids, and we wanted to reflect that in the layout and design of the space.

Let's take a look!

Second Level

A wide staircase to help avoid scuffs and dings.

Lots of light from windows to keep things feeling bright and open.

Railing with open views to the Great Room and Entry below.

A wide bridge-walkway to a cozy little book nook and "secret playroom" behind a Murphy bookcase door that can eventually serve as a bunk room.

A bedroom for one of our teenage daughters with a Juliet balcony directly across from the girl's bathroom.

A bathroom just for the girls that has a separate shower and closed-off toilet room, and built-in storage space for toiletries and other needs, as well as hot tools drawer near the sink.

A bedroom for my youngest daughter, tucked right next to her big sister, with beautiful views of the Alpine mountains.

A larger bedroom over the garage with a fun ceiling and window nook for my two littlest boys to share.

A bathroom just for the boys with a separate shower and a closed-off toilet room.

A bedroom looking at the backyard and the neighbor's horses for my oldest boy.

A laundry room for the kids to take care of their dirty clothes, towels, and bedding. To date, my older two are the only ones capable of doing this on a solo basis, but eventually, they're all going to learn.

Closet storage and built-in cabinet storage in the hallway for linens, decor, and a blank wall space over the built-in cabinet nook to decorate with photos, kid artwork, holiday fun, and more.

That's the upper level in a nutshell. It was so fun to think about, and playing "Tetris" with the space was harder than we thought it would be, but we LOVE how it turned out!

The one thing that is different from what the plans show, is that the HVAC in the small closet actually moved up into the attic. We had to run a unit up there, because it was too near of thing for it to fit in the small closet we'd planned on. So... up the attic it went, and we gained a second storage closet space. I'm not mad.

There are so many small details that went into it that would make for a super long blog post that I'll share separately.
